A gradual progression of yoga moves, allowing time to learn the feel of each position.

Handouts and resources to take home that will reinforce your learning.

If you’ve been wanting to try yoga, but not wanting to find yourself lost in a room full of people going into slightly scary pretzel-like poses, here is your perfect opportunity. Teacher Shannon Sodano will welcome you into Gentle Yoga For Beginners, a delightful series of 4 Monday evening classes, 75 minutes each, to get you started with experiencing the benefits of yoga.

Each class will focus on a specific benefit of yoga:
Week 1 (Oct. 5)- Yoga for Stress Relief
De-stress with yoga poses designed to leave your mind and body relaxed and balanced.
Week 2 (Oct. 19) – Yoga for Energy
Learn how to use yoga to tap into the power of healthy digestion. Get the most energy out of the food you eat, and feel rejuvenated in the process.
Week 3 (Oct. 26) – Yoga for a Vibrant Mind
Sharpen your focus and memory skills with yoga poses that clear your mind and boost circulation to your brain.
Week 4 (Nov. 2) – Yoga for Better Sleep
Get your best sleep from deeply restorative yoga poses and simple breathing exercises.

About Shannon Sodano

Shannon is a yoga teacher, nutritionist, and wellness counselor. She holds a degree in Nutrition from New York University, where she also earned NYU’s first All-American honors in cross-country running. A sports injury inspired Shannon to explore solutions from Western medical doctors, alternative medicine, and the healing and strengthening of yoga. Shannon completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Wild Yoga and Balanced Rock in Yosemite National Park, CA. Shannon is also YogaFit certified and is an affiliate of the multidisciplinary health leadership group, Exuberant Animal. Shannon is most drawn to restorative yoga that has a flow, yet is gentle on the body and accessible to many.

Previous experience is not required. We have clean, cushy mats for you. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes ahead of scheduled class time if you are visiting New Leaf for the first time. 48 hour cancellation policy for this special class.
