Many movement teachers and trainers today employ sort of connective tissue release. Most of these are variants of Barnes’ myofascial release technique. There are now numerous folks in the business of bringing MFR to the masses, such as the MELT Method. We do use some connective tissue release techniques at New Leaf, and find that most of our clients enjoy them.

What is really known about the connective tissue called fascia? And given what we know, which of these “release” techniques (if any) are really doing good for our bodies?
